“Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the prison, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord who made it, the Lord who formed it to establish it (the Lord is His name): “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”‘” Jeremiah 33:1-3 NKJV
Where are you and who is with you? Jesus said, “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:19-20 NKJV
Christian students are challenged to form “Prayer Triplets,” along with caring adults, praying for “Target Teens” in their communities who need the Lord, covenanting together to participate in “Fair Share” evangelistic youth efforts.
“Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 NKJV
Singing sisters and friends who formed trios have shared the Gospel musically.
Standing on a platform at McCormick Place Arie Crown Theater in Chicago with Dave and Carol Breese and Thurlow and Noran Spurr, my wife Mary and I looked at the 5,000 empty seats of the auditorium still under construction and asked God to direct us to put together a Christian evangelistic musical outreach there. We brainstormed ways to accomplish it, prayed diligently together, and I was asked to come up with a name. God gave me the word “Splendor of Sacred Song.” We invited the White Sisters – twin girls and their older sister – to sing the Gospel. Five thousand attended. And we took “Splendor of Sacred Song” concerts across America, challenging local youth to be involved.
Later when I was serving with Word in Waco, Texas, speaking at the San Antonio Youth for Christ rally, the White Sisters, by then Word recording artists, were our special guests. Learning that Mary and I were to be parents soon, the sisters sent special gift dresses for our daughter Tami Leigh. When Tami was born, her announcement said, “Meet the world’s newest world changer.”
During the initial 90 days of TTT Christian Youth Ministries in 1966, more than 50 youth professed personal faith in Jesus Christ and 300 dedicated their lives to Him. We were able to rent the Vanderburgh 4-H Auditorium for our first major rally April 2. Dave Breese, founder of Christian Destiny, was the speaker. We organized “The Tri-Tones,” a group of 16 tri-state girls, to sing along to a recording of the White Sisters as they walked toward the stage. Our second Impact rally at the 4-H Auditorium was July 2. Thurlow Spurr with Splendor Productions was our guest.
At the 25th anniversary convention of Youth for Christ International at Winona Lake, Indiana, we met the singing Kandel triplets from Ohio. Soon we invited Kris, Karen, and Kathie Kandel and their teenage sister Linda, who accompanied them on piano, for a weekend outreach at Lawrenceville, Illinois high school auditorium.
They were welcomed back again and again, and ultimately each married guys they met in Evansville. They have continued their relationship with TTT Christian Youth Ministries, and now the Kandel sisters are Christian authors and Bible teachers.
At the second Faith Festival in 1971, two young ladies accepted Jesus as personal Savior, and were recruited by their friend Rebecca Powers, a preacher’s daughter, to form the “Greater Love” trio. Rebecca Powers and Jan and Kathy Blum shared the Gospel together and the story of TTT with more than 50 local congregations across the tri-state.
Have you made the determination to “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ”? Do you know of at least two others who would be willing to pray with you to share God’s Good News together?
Watch God work wonderfully when you endeavor to serve Him with your whole being, inviting others to join you, prayerfully considering allowing God to use you to recruit two others to prayerfully become a “threefold cord,” telling the Truth to / through teenagers – to win them to Christ, train them for Christ, and allow Jesus Christ through you to change the world!
You are encouraged to participate and invite teenagers, preteens, and adult leaders to attend Leading Youth evangelism training at TTT Saturday, March 9.
Why should you and others be trained to know and share God’s ABCs of salvation? “But even if our gospel is veiled (hidden), it is veiled to those who are perishing.” 2 Corinthians 4:3 NKJV
