You can be transformed. will you?

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 NKJV

In the Wiersbe Study Bible, Warren Wiersbe wrote this “Catalyst Note”: “Mind-Transformation. If the world controls our thinking, we are conformers; if God controls our thinking, we are transformers. If we copy the behavior and customs of the world, we become a cheap imitation; if we let God transform us into new persons, we will be original creations of His! God transforms our minds and makes us spiritually minded by using His Word. As we spend time meditating on God’s Word, memorizing it, and making it a part of our inner selves, God will gradually make our minds more spiritual. ‘But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.’ 2 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV. We surrender our wills to God through disciplined prayer. As we spend time in prayer, we surrender our will to God and pray, with the Lord, ‘Not as I will, but as You will’ (Matthew 26:39). We must pray about everything, and let God have His way in everything.”

Before the Wiersbe Study Bible, Warren wrote the “Be” series covering several books of the Bible. “Be Transformed” is an exposition of John 13-21.

Wiersbe wrote: “Jesus called the disciples and us to be ‘fishers of men’ … To be a ‘fisher of men’ in that day meant to seek to persuade men and ‘catch’ them with the truth. A fisherman catches living fish, but when he gets them, they die. A Christian evangelist seeks to catch ‘dead fish’ (dead in their sins), and when he or she ‘catches’ them, they are made alive in Christ!

It has been my privilege to lead hundreds of teenagers singing the song “Fishers of Men.” When the letter of the word being sung starts with “M,” the guys stand. And the girls stand on every word beginning with “F” for female. As the song ends, everyone stands together singing: “I will make you fishers of men, if you follow Me.”

Commenting on Romans 12:2, Earl Radmacher in the Nelson Study Bible wrote: ” ‘Conformed’ means ‘to form’ or ‘mold.’ ‘World’ is the normal word for ‘age’ or ‘era.’ Instead of being molded by the values of this world, the believer should be transformed, that is, changed by the renewing of the mind. Spiritual transformation starts in the mind and heart. A mind dedicated to the world and its concerns will produce a life tossed back and forth by the currents of culture. But a mind dedicated to God’s truth will produce a life that can stand the test of time. We can resist the temptations of our culture by meditating on God’s truth and letting the Holy Spirit guide and shape our thoughts and behaviors.”

TTT Christian Youth Ministries was born out of a burden for lost teenagers. Bathed in prayer, it is based on the biblical commands to “go into all the world and preach the gospel” and “do the work of an evangelist.” Endeavoring to partner with Bible believing congregations, TTT is battling the enemy of God for the souls of youth caught in the stronghold of sin, but already bought by the blood of Jesus Christ for each who will “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ,” receiving God’s gift of eternal life through Him, and become “”born again.”

Jesus said, “…you must be born again.” John 3:7 NKJV

In memory of Rev. J.C. Greer (my father-in-law), who went to be with the Lord March 10, 1998, the “Leading Youth Resource Information Center” is available and accessible to any leader from local Bible believing “Churches Partnering in Youth Evangelism.” Bibles, books, manuals, videos and online resources are available at the TTT Christian communications center to adults who bring one or more 10-19 year-olds any TTT Saturday night.

A complimentary hardback copy of “Divine Direction” by Craig Groeschel will be given to any adult who transports one or more 10 to 19-year-olds to TTT for “Burger Bash” Saturday, September 7. Free hamburgers will be provided to everyone attending, and each 10-19 year-old will receive a special TTT paperback Bible.

The thrust toward the September 7 “Burger Bash” is “Mustard Seed Faith,” based on Jesus’ promise in Matthew 17:20.

Transformed believers can multiply their impact by praying and inviting youth before turning 20 to “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”
