“That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.” John 1:9 NKJV
Jesus was “moved with compassion” for the people, “because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.'” Matthew 9:36-38 NKJV
In “Fan the Flame,” Jim Cymbala writes: “The harvest was plentiful. But, He said, ‘the workers are few.’ … That was the critical shortage. There weren’t enough workers to accomplish this great task that weighed on Jesus’s heart.”
“After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. Then He said to them, ‘The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Go your way…'” Luke 10:1-3 NKJV
TTT’s mission: “Telling The TRUTH to/through teenagers … to win them to Christ and train them for Christ … teaching them how to share their faith through their local churches, on their campuses, throughout their communities, and into their world, wherever God leads them in their future.”
In “Man of Valor, Man of Grace: The Life of David,” Charles Swindoll writes: “Why has such a major change taken place in David’s life and attitude? … First, David hurts enough to admit his need. When you’re hurting, you need to declare it to someone, and especially to the Lord. Second, David is honest enough to cry for help. And third, David is humble enough to learn from God. How tragic that we can live in one cave after another and never learn from God. But not David! I love the man’s utter humility as he turns a cave into a training ground for the future.”
Swindoll continues: “As I consider this time in David’s life, I can’t help but reflect upon Jesus and His coming from the glories of heaven to accept a body of malcontents and sinners like us. Some of us are living in an emotional cave—dark, dismal, disillusioning … Why not share David’s shelter—the One he called “my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me” (Psalm 31:2). We know Him today by the name Jesus. He’s still available—even to cave dwellers, to lonely people needing someone to care.”
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 NKJV
Jim Cymbala writes: “When we see someone come to Christ—a life transformed by grace—we know that some ‘worker’ somewhere, somehow, shared the gospel, along with loving and praying in such a way that the person put their trust in Jesus.”
We are praying for more students and adults to participate in Leading Youth evangelism training Saturday, June 28 … and to be willing and available to be “laborers in His harvest” this summer.
July 7 through August 1, God willing, Fair Share teams will go to 10 county fairs and street festivals, sharing God’s Good News with hundreds of individuals through tent banners, Bibles, bottles of cold water with the “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” message, God’s ABCs, and one-on-one sharing.
Jesus said: “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!” John 4:35 NKJV
On a TTT Saturday night the late 1960s, as I was praying diligently for at least two young men to capture the concept “Christ through you can change the world,” there were 15 students in the living room when two high school seniors arrived late. Catching the concept, together we set the goal to have at least 100 attending. Within seven weeks attendance reached 100, staying there week after week.
“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 1:15 NKJV
Using my station wagon for transportation and youth evangelism on-the-job training for three Christian college students, meeting Mondays at Mt. Carmel High School in the library, going on to Lawrenceville where we met in the back of the high school auditorium; and we wrapped up in the back of the high school cafeteria in Olney.
TTT has continued having multiple ministries in those communities and, God willing, will be taking Fair Share to these and seven other counties this summer.
Have you responded personally to the invitation to go believe in the Lord Jesus Christ? Do you know the true light?
