“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7 NKJV
Warren Wiersbe writes in the Wiersbe Study Bible: “To live in the light means to be honest with God, with ourselves, and with others. It means that when the light reveals our sin to us, we immediately confess it to God and claim His forgiveness.”
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12 NKJV
The series of events and the answers to prayer after prayer that led us specifically to the corner of US Highway 41 N and Boonville New Harmony Road to establish the TTT Christian Communication Center are explained Biblically: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
Pacing and praying, we claimed the house and 2 1/3 acres for the Lord, with no money available. The down payment was miraculously donated, enabling my wife Mary and me, with our just under one-year-old daughter Tami, to move in to begin the ministry originally called Tri-State Youth for Christ. We were given 90 days to raise $2,000 “earnest money.”
I made an appointment to meet with Mr. and Mrs. David Ingle, Jr, whom I had met in 1961 when I was invited to speak at a Tri-State Youth for Christ rally that was meeting in their home. Mrs. Ingle gave the first gift to TTT, and her husband David gave the second. God opened door after door to share the Gospel as we prepared to have our first event for teenagers in the new facility the first Saturday night of February, 1966.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” Psalm 32:8 NKJV
Much later, our daughter Tami, now president of TTT Christian Youth Ministries, a graduate of Liberty University, a CPA and attorney, did some research on the property. She learned that in 1818, John Ingle, the son of a Baptist pastor from England, came to America, settling in southern Indiana. Building a log cabin, he provided lodging and hospitality for itinerant preachers. The road alongside the “Ingle Cabin” went East to Boonville and West to New Harmony, and the north-south “Red Banks Trail” extended from what is now Henderson, Kentucky to Vincennes, Indiana.
The 160-acre land grant John Ingle obtained in 1823 encompassed the property God would provide for TTT nearly 150 years later.
Long before having that information verified, our nearest post office was at Inglefield. And John Ingle more than a century before served as postmaster there for over 45 years, having been commissioned by President James Monroe.
We have a copy of a drawing of the original Ingle cabin.
Circuit riders taking the Gospel from south to north, and from east to west, were welcomed through John Ingle’s hospitality for meals and overnight lodging.
John Ingle was David Ingle Jr.’s great great grandfather. We learned details of the property’s history and John Ingle’s life well after God provided the property for TTT, and several years after David’s death in 1995.
When God provided the initial house and 2 1/3 acres as we began TTT, we also had a verbal option on the surrounding property, to ultimately total 30 acres for TTT Christian Youth Ministries.
Before the TTT Christian Communication Center building was constructed, we rented a neighboring “three-room house with a path” to house TTT interns who were students at Oakland City College. Now there are three A-frame dorms on the campus, a functional rustic outdoor prayer chapel, and teaching facilities.
“Hosanna Highway,” God’s plan of redemption throughout His Word, (March 1 – May 3) will continue sharing God’s story Saturday by Saturday: creation, the fall, judgment, the promise, the Lamb of God, … and April 5 “Hosanna” Saturday, focusing on Jesus’ Triumphal Entry, betrayal, crucifixion, and the empty tomb, … the cross, the resurrection, the Great Commission, and the Gospel everywhere!
“When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth…” John 16:13 NKJV
From the moment you personally “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,” you can walk in God’s light. Will you?
