Are you using the sword of the Spirit?

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 NKJV

John 1:2-5 continues introducing Jesus: “He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”

In his book “Created to Dream,” Rick Warren wrote: “When God wants to work in your life, He gives you a dream about what He wants you to do, and the impact He wants you to have in the world.”

Growing up seeing airplanes, I dreamed of someday flying.

Celebrating Christmas 1940, a memorable gift was a touch of destiny: a metal model 4-engine propeller-powered DC-4 American airliner. At age 9, I had not yet been in an airplane, but was fascinated by aviation.

It would be 15 years before my first commercial flight – from Greenville, South Carolina on a Lockheed Constellation stopping in Louisville, enroute to Evansville, Indiana. My parents and my wife Mary had driven to Mt. Carmel, Illinois because my Grandmother Dooms’ physical life had ended February 22, 1955. I had stayed behind to ship Gospel Advertising posters and bumper strips to Colorado for an area-wide evangelistic crusade with Dr. Bob Jones Jr. My family picked me up in Evansville, driving to Mt. Carmel for my grandmother’s memorial service and later back to Greenville.

Flying several other times, I flew on a jet airliner for the first time Labor Day weekend 1960, round-trip from Tampa to Chicago.

The result was my going on staff with Youth for Christ International. Between January 1961 and May 1962, Mary would drive me to O’Hare Airport every Friday afternoon, and I would fly to and from various destinations in different states each weekend to share the Gospel with youth. Our house in the western suburbs was 30 miles from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.

Seeking God’s will for the correct location for the TTT Christian Communication Center, He miraculously provided the location of 13000 US 41 North at Boonville New Harmony Road, midway between Interstate 64 and Evansville Regional Airport (4 miles south).

During the first 57 years of hosting TTT Saturday night youth events every week, meeting with incoming guests at the airport and driving them to TTT has been a continuing joy.

And it has been very convenient to fly to and from Evansville and multiple locations.

One significant trip happened in January 1973, when Mary and I flew from Evansville to Chicago O’Hare and on to Portland, Oregon to attend the Youth for Christ International Convention. In the mid-1990s, I was invited by George Kell of Greater Harrisburg (Pennsylvania) Youth for Christ to speak at an anniversary rally there. Mary and I flew together to New York City, changing planes to fly on to Harrisburg.

At 7:27 PM every week, TTT Saturday nights continue in person and online, live-stream and on demand. During 2023 (through December 9), TTT alumni and others have connected with us online from 37 states and 31 nations.

Leading Youth peer evangelism training is available for students and adults, challenging and equipping to creatively communicate Christianity, so that many more youth can be reached with the life-changing Gospel message.

“Christ Through You Can Change the World” missions: 10% of TTT’s general fund donations are invested in Motorcycle Sunday School Missions in Brazil, Cambodia, and Indonesia, and in other ministries and missions across America and around the world.

TIGER*Team IMPACT evangelistic youth efforts “go with the Gospel” to local communities through Fair Share and other youth evangelism endeavors.

The apostle John, who described himself as “the apostle Jesus loved,” authored five New Testament books: the Gospel of John, First, Second and Third John, and the Book of Revelation.

“Telling The TRUTH so that you may believe” (John 19:35 NKJV) is TTT’s biblical theme for 2024.

You are invited to personally “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17 NKJV

Reflect on the greatest gift of all – Jesus.
