Are you God’s fellow worker?

“Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers …” 1 Corinthians 3:8-9 NKJV

The fourth stanza of “Faith of Our Fathers” personifies my own father, William Lawson Dooms, and my father-in-law, J.C. Greer.

“Faith of our fathers, we will love both friend and foe in all our strife; and preach Thee too as love knows how, by kindly words and virtuous life. Faith of our fathers, holy faith, we will be true to thee till death.”

Beginning on my birthday, August 29, 1973, my Dad began drawing and lettering by hand a map of the 93 counties within 100 miles of TTT. He finished and mailed the project, and I received it in October. Dad drew his final breath, praying in his home in Florida for the TTT rally on Saturday evening, November 3, 1973.

“… but having hope, that as your faith is increased, we shall be greatly enlarged by you in our sphere, to preach the gospel …” 2 Corinthians 10:15-16 NKJV

Potential doors are open to 14 of these Tri-State counties during July and August. God willing, teams will “go,” distributing bottles of cold water in Jesus’ name, sharing God’s ABCs of salvation. Custom Bible covers and banners on each TTT tent have reproductions of TTT billboards prominently presenting the message “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”

The first three Fair Share counties (July 8-12) are Gibson, Indiana; Lawrence, Illinois; and McLean, Kentucky.

Jesus Christ Changin’ the World Summit is to be Saturday, July 13 (3 PM to 9 PM at TTT, including evangelism and leadership training and Fair Share preparation.

Jesus said, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV

Every person who attends the Summit will receive a free Bible. A complimentary “basket special” meal will be available from the TTT “Thirsty Tooth.” All will participate in the 7:27 PM Saturday night event, followed by free pizza.

Updates from Motorcycle Sunday School Missions in Brazil, Cambodia, and Indonesia, and other ministries and missions across America and around the world will be presented.

My wife Mary was born June 13, 1932. When we asked her father, Pastor J.C. Greer, for his blessing for us to be married, he made three requests: to let him perform the ceremony; to have our wedding in the new auditorium of First Baptist Church, Mount Carmel, Illinois; and to wait until Mary turned 18.

Our wedding was June 18, 1950. God gave us 64 years together, until Mary went to her heavenly reward October 12, 2014. We had an exciting life that took us from coast to coast and border to border, including a stop in Mexico and several times and places in Canada.

For our first wedding anniversary, following my first year at Bob Jones University, Mary’s parents invited us to go with them to the Southern Baptist Convention in San Francisco, and visit the capitals of all the states west of the Mississippi except the Dakotas.

Mary’s father invited me to conduct an evangelistic campaign in each of the last five churches he pastored during his 50 years of ministry: Mt. Carmel, Casey, Sparta, Patoka, and Kell, Illinois. Many gave their hearts to Christ personally. Mary’s parents were very encouraging to us in the ministries we were involved in, especially TTT Christian Youth Ministries from its inception. J.C. Greer went home to heaven March 10, 1998.

The Lord very graciously connected Mary and me with some outstanding Christian communicators, becoming personal friends and collaborating together, event after event and place after place.

One special friend was Ed Reese, who wrote concise biographies of outstanding Christian servants: “Faith of our Fathers.” He said: “Each of these individuals came to a point where they realized something was missing from their lives. They were vastly different people living in different times and different places … they all came to realize they needed to know the living God in a personal way … not just know about God, they needed to know Him. Once they encountered a true relationship with God through Jesus Christ, their lives changed dramatically.”

Are you God’s fellow worker? Have you admitted that you have sinned, asked God’s forgiveness, and turned an about face to “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ”? Have you confessed with your mouth the Lord Jesus and shared your faith in Him?

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
