“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 NKJV
“For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.” 1 Timothy 4:5 NKJV
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV
Jerry Falwell, founder of Liberty University, said again and again: “Nothing of eternal significance is ever accomplished apart from prayer.”
Before we opened the TTT doors to teenagers in 1966, we saturated every move with prayer. God answered marvelously, and we believe miraculously. TTT Christian Youth Ministries celebrated its 58th birthday and 3,027 consecutive Saturdays February 3. Those attending represented each decade – the 1960s through today.
Across the ages, real revivals were born out of prayer. The Great Awakening in the 1700s resulted in thousands of salvation decisions through the preaching of George Whitfield and others. A century later, Peter Cartwright and other circuit riding evangelists in the early 1800s called for men and women to turn to Jesus for forgiveness of their sins and receive God’s gift of eternal life. After the tragic Chicago fire, Dwight L. Moody never concluded another meeting without giving an invitation to “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.” Moody Bible Institute and other Bible training schools and Christian colleges trained hundreds of young people to “do the work of an evangelist.” Youth for Christ rallies spawned area-wide outreaches saturated by prayer, as young Christian communicators effectively shared the words of Jesus: “You must be born again.” These visionaries met together to pray and challenge one another to use every means and media possible, “everywhere.” Ministries, including TTT, are continuing to take the Gospel worldwide today.
Saturday, February 10 begins 10 weeks of concerted effort through April 13 called “Hosanna Highway.” Leading Youth scholarships for students and adult youth workers provide leadership and youth evangelism training. The next opportunity is scheduled for March 9.
Saturday, March 16: Hosanna! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 NKJV
Saturday, March 23: The Cross. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 NKJV
Saturday, March 30 (Easter Eve): Resurrection. “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 NKJV
Jerry Falwell’s son Jonathan, now pastor of the thriving Lynchburg, Virginia Thomas Road Baptist Church and Chancellor of Liberty University says, “You will never impact the life of a non-believer except through prayer.”
It all begins with prayer. When we approach God’s throne of grace, we are to rejoice. And we are to pray, and keep praying, and thank God for what He has done, what He is doing, and what He is going to do.
The greatest need in the world is: “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,” and leads to the solution: “For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake … But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us” (see 2 Corinthians 4).
In their book “12 Crucial Truths of the Christian Faith,” Josh McDowell with his son Sean McDowell write: “God’s word can be trusted.” They say, “We believe the truth that the Bible is God’s revelation of Himself to us, which declares His ways for us to follow.”
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:17-18 NKJV
Caring Christians receive a prayer update on the 7th and 27th monthly for ways to pray for the TTT team.
“God’s Global Go” is His plan. In Mark 16:15, Jesus said: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel.” We are to evangelize everyone, everywhere.
Today can be your day of salvation. Admit you have sinned and ask God to forgive you. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” personally. Confess Christ publicly.
Keep praying and sharing Christ with your friends and family. Pray all the time for everything and everyone.
