Will you give the light?

“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shown in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6 NKJV

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV

Have you heard and responded to God’s ABC’s of salvation? A – Admit you’ve sinned. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 NKJV. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 NKJV. B – Believe on Christ. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 NKJV. C – Confess Christ publicly. “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10 NKJV

When you personally believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, you are the light of the world.

Labor Day weekend 1960, I met two friends for the first time face-to-face who soon became “door openers” and lifetime influencers. Warren W. Wiersbe and Dave Breese had known of me through “The Gospelizer,” which included God’s ABCs of salvation.

Though neither had heard me speak publicly, Warren introduced me in print in the magazine “YFC Eye” and Dave invited me to speak in mid-January at Chicagoland Youth for Christ.

As 1961 began, Warren presented the “Teens Are Most Important” concept as he introduced me at the Youth for Christ International convention in Los Angeles.

My question and challenge was: “Does every teenager in your community deserve a personal presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?”, quoting 2 Corinthians 4:3: “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.”

Three questions followed: “Who? You, through your local Youth for Christ program, working hand-in-hand with Youth for Christ International. Why? If you don’t share the Gospel with the teens in your town, who’s going to? What? Saturation evangelism … presenting the plan of salvation and challenge of Christian living to all the teenagers in your area.”

During that convention in Los Angeles, I received invitations from Youth for Christ directors to come to their towns: Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, Iowa; Beaumont and Houston, Texas; Akron and Canton, Ohio; and Washington, DC.

Across the years (and now decades), Acts 13:49 – “And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region” – continues as God speaks to people to open doors.

It has been a personal privilege to share the Gospel from coast to coast and border to border, in community after community, using every available means and media. Of the 3,141 USA counties, 93 are in Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky within 100 miles of TTT – US Highway 41 North at Boonville New Harmony Road, 4 miles North of Interstate 64 and 4 miles South of Evansville Regional Airport.

January 4, God willing, is to be TTT’s 3075th consecutive Saturday, Telling The TRUTH to/through teenagers.

And Saturday, February 1, TTT Christian Youth Ministries is scheduled to turn 59. Tuesday, February 4, a 90-minute luncheon is to provide fellowship and training for pastors and youth workers (12 PM – 1:30 PM, in person at TTT and via Zoom). Saturday, February 8, Leading Youth evangelism training for students and adults is to happen from 3 PM through the 7:27 PM rally (concluding at 8:30 PM) preparing for Hosanna Highway, March 1 through May 3.

Elmer Towns has said often: “Methods are many, principles are few. Methods may change, principles never do.”

“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ …” Colossians 4:2-3 NKJV

Whoever you are, wherever you are, how can we help each other “give the light”? Let’s invite every possible person to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. You can only give the light if you know Jesus.
