God connects people according to His purpose.
While John Dunn and I were putting together the Youth for Christ March from TTT to Roberts Stadium in advance of an area wide evangelistic crusade featuring Bill Glass, John asked, “George, why are you not on radio locally?” My answer: “We don’t have the funds.” John responded: “If you had a 30-minute time slot every Sunday morning from 7:30 to 8:00 on WROZ radio, how soon could you start?” My answer: “Next Sunday.” John replied, “That’s too soon. Let’s make it one week from Sunday.”
Meanwhile, John Dunn was transferred to Channel 7 television as sales manager. But he left a note on the desk of the new manager of WROZ radio, saying, “I’ve promised George Dooms a 30-minute time slot for TTT every Sunday morning. Will you honor this please?”
The following Sunday, I drove to downtown Evansville to produce the first Sunday morning broadcast from 7:30 to 8 AM.
And I continued every Sunday morning, driving from TTT to downtown Evansville for 11 years,until the station was sold and the new owners determined to take off all “religious content.”
When my pastor began training me and trusting me as a high school senior with a 30 minute broadcast week by week, God was preparing me to share His glorious Gospel and let every listener know that “God so loved the world“… “that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16), answering the question: “What must I do to be saved?” – “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”
The consistent ability people need to possess is availability. Capable truth telling connectors can move toward the continuing vision – Every youth, before turning 20, to hear the Gospel with an invitation to “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”
My daughter Tami handled the leadership responsibility for all the facets and phases of TTT’s food booth at the Evansville West Side Nut Club Fall Festival. To God be the glory, for every person who invested time, talents, and treasure to help it all happen.
The consistent need to serve God effectively is dependability.
Although each worker had a direct or indirect TTT connection, not all knew each other beforehand. Believers’ fellowship with each other was God-ordained.
“For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them …” Romans 12:1-6 NKJV
Every food item was accompanied by a napkin with the message “For God so loved the world … Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Thousands received the Gospel message, and only God knows the eternal results.
Many thousands more, as they walked along Franklin Street, saw a replica of TTT’s “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” billboard.
To help us go “Together Toward Tomorrow” effectively, the next Leading Youth Saturday is to be November 14 (3 PM through TTT’s Saturday night event), providing evangelism training for students ages 10 to 19 and adult youth workers. Participation is free, and registration deadline is 5 PM Thursday, November 12.
TTT Saturday nights continue at 7:27 pm every week, in person (13000 US Highway 41 North at Boonville New Harmony Road, midway between Interstate 64 and the Evansville Airport) and online (livestream / on-demand – visit TTTChristianYouth.org for more info).
The first Saturday of every month is “Super Saturday,” with free food for all participating in person. November 7 is to be “South of the Border nachos night.” December 5 will celebrate with Jesus’ birthday cake. All through December, the thrust is “Go Tell It on the Mountain, Jesus Christ is Born … and Jesus Christ is Alive!”
You can put on the new man in true righteousness and holiness according to God, when you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Will you?
