Whatever your need is, ask God for His help. Watch and wait for His answer.
Glancing back over my 95 years on planet Earth, everything changed the night I was born again into God’s forever family at age 8. When I got home that night, my parents said, “Now, George, you can ask God for anything, anytime.”
Within days after I was born again, the local church facility that our family had attended since I was two weeks old named “Second Street Baptist“ ceased, and the congregation became Grace Memorial. Our Bible-believing pastor led us to begin utilizing Scripture Press Publications – “The Whole Word for the Whole World” – which provided outstanding Bible-centered materials.
My Dad had been invited by a former pastor to move to Newport News, Virginia, for work. In October, Dad arranged for my Mother and me to travel by train to join him there.
My new environment was personally challenging, and “Call to Me” became my lifestyle.
The Holy Spirit guided Jeremiah to pen this promise from God: “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
As He did for Jeremiah, God has consistently showed me great and mighty things that at a times were difficult to comprehend.
The twists and turns of my life led me to learn to “fly by the seat of my pants” as a teenager. Rule number one: “Fasten your seatbelt, and keep it fastened.”
When Mary and I were seriously contemplating marriage, I gave her a poem on Valentine’s Day: “George and Mary, youth for Christ; Serving the King of kings; taking the glorious Gospel of God to unsaved human beings.”
We chose Romans 8:28 as our life verse: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Seeking to know God’s will, at a strategic moment when I “called to Him,” He showed me: “My major purpose in life is to communicate Christianity … to build a Christian communication center and ultimately reach, teach, and train youth and leaders to do the work of evangelist to fulfill their ministry.”
God gave the vision: Every youth, before turning 20, to hear the Gospel with an invitation to “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”
As a teenager, God began leading me to use music – instrumental (trombone) and vocal – solos, ensembles, bands, and choirs.
God gave my Dad the impetus to place the Gospel alongside busy highways, using “Roadside Missionaries,” and thrust me into personal involvement.
From junior high school forward, God gave me an excellent foundation with competent teachers to enhance using the English language to speak and write.
As a high school senior, I was trained to use radio broadcasting, as “Echoes of Grace” aired live every Saturday morning. Today, my voice is heard twice daily for two minutes on the VCY America (Voice of Christian Youth) network; also on WSJD in Mt Carmel, Illinois; and via podcast.
Every week, I am privileged to write a newspaper editorial published in three newspapers distributed to readers in 9 southern Illinois and Indiana communities (also available as a blog on TTT’s website).
Since TTT’s doors first opened February 5, 1966, preteens, teenagers, and caring adults have been invited to gather at 7:27 PM every Saturday.
Mary and I served the Lord together until God promoted Mary to her Heavenly home October 12, 2014.
February 12, 2015, the TTT Executive Board unanimously elected our daughter Tami President, and I was given the title and responsibility Founder/Ambassador at Large.
Since March 2020, the TTT Saturday 7:27 PM event has also been available online – livestream and on demand worldwide.
Youth from all 50 states and at least 40 nations have been trained personally at TTT in Bible-based youth evangelism.
God has given me the privilege of sharing the Gospel personally, hosted by over 300 local congregations across the Tri-state.
The “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” message is posted on “roadside missionary” billboards along Highway 41 and other busy thoroughfares.
To God goes the glory for what He has done, is doing, and is going to do.
Let’s keep “calling to Him,” and He will answer us and continue to show us great and mighty things, which we do not know.
As God directs, we will use every means and media possible, going through every door God opens, sharing the “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” invitation.
And as more youth and adults are trained and willing to be “truth telling connectors,” we will keep going “together toward tomorrow.”
