“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13 NKJV
In the Nelson Study Bible, Earl Radmacher said, “The evil day is taken by some to refer to the end times when the Evil One will launch a ferocious campaign against Christ and His army. A more common view is that any great spiritual contest in a believer’s life could be in view here.”
During my first year at Bob Jones University, in speech class I was challenged to memorize “Evangelize”: “Give us a watchword for the hour, A thrilling word, a word of power. A battle cry, a flaming breath That calls to conquest or to death. A word to rouse the church from rest, To heed the Master’s high behest, The call is given: Ye hosts arise, Our watchword is, EVANGELIZE! The glad Evangel now proclaim, Through all the earth, in Jesus’ name. This word is ringing through the skies: EVANGELIZE! EVANGELIZE! To dying men, a fallen race, Make known the gift of Gospel grace. The world that now in darkness lies, O church of Christ, EVANGELIZE! EVANGELIZE!”
In his study Bible, Warren W. Wiersbe comments on Ephesians 6:13-17 “In one sense, ‘the whole armor of God’ is a picture of Jesus Christ. Christ is the Truth (John 14:6), and He is our righteousness (2 Cor. 5:21) and our peace (Eph. 2:14). His faithfulness makes possible our faith (Gal. 2:20); He is our salvation (Luke 2:30); and He is the Word of God (John 1:1, 14). This means that when we trusted Christ, we received the armor. Paul told the Romans what to do with the armor (Rom. 13:11–14): Wake up (Rom. 13:11), remove your dark deeds, and ‘put on the armor of light’ (Rom. 13:12). We do this by clothing ourselves by ‘put[ting] on the Lord Jesus Christ’ (Rom. 13:14).”
Why did Jesus really die?
“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NKJV
The Gospel is the death, the burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s why Jesus really died. He died for you, so you could live forever.

“Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:10-11 NKJV
