“… John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!'” John 1:29 NKJV
Earl Radmacher wrote: “In the Old Testament, the Israelites sacrificed lambs at the Passover feast and as offerings. Jesus Christ is the Lamb that God would give as a sacrifice for the sins not only of Israel, but of the whole world.”
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:6 NKJV
“For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them …” Romans 12:4-6 NKJV
Use what you have.
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.” Ecclesiastes 9:10 NKJV
In the Wiersbe Study Bible, Warren W. Wiersbe wrote: “Those things that fill our schedules in this life will not be present in the grave, so we should make the most of our opportunities now. One day our works will be judged, and we will want to receive a reward for His glory.”
When she was 18 years old, Annie Walker Coghill wrote the song “Work for the Night is Coming.” The musical setting was by Lowell Mason. “Work for the night is coming, Work thro’ the morning hours. Work while the dew is sparkling, Work ‘mid springing flowers. Work when the day grows brighter, Work in the glowing sun. Work for the night is coming When man’s work is done.”
Jesus said, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; for the night is coming when no one can work.” John 9:4 NKJV
Two teenagers who met each other during the Mordecai Ham evangelistic meetings in their hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina were Billy Graham and T.W. Wilson. They became lifelong friends.
As a student at Bob Jones University, I met T.W. Wilson when he spoke in chapel. Through Gospel Advertising Association, we soon began producing posters, bumper strips, and other materials for his forthcoming crusades. When I graduated in 1954, he invited me to meet him at the Youth for Christ International convention at Winona Lake, Indiana. He offered to introduce me to the evangelists cooperating with Youth for Christ. It was a real honor to meet Torrey Johnson, who had founded Chicagoland Youth for Christ, with Billy Graham as the first speaker.
Johnson soon hired Billy Graham as the first Youth for Christ International employee to establish YFC rallies across America and beyond. Torrey Johnson became known as founder and president of Youth for Christ International.
When Billy Graham returned to his hometown of Charlotte for his second crusade there, following the very renowned New York City crusade, T.W. Wilson invited Mary and me to sit with him as his guests on the platform in Charlotte. Before the meeting began, T.W. asked if I had met Billy personally. Responding that we had casually met and shaken hands, T.W. asked, “But does Billy know you?” He said, “We’re about to change that. I’m going to take you backstage just before the crusade begins and introduce you two, so you will know each other personally.” It was my honor and privilege for T.W. Wilson to follow through.
