“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
People attending TTT Saturdays have personified Isaiah 40:31.
They have arrived by cars, vans, trucks, former school buses, bicycles, walking, on horseback, motorcycles, ministry tour buses, private aircraft, and commercial airliners.
Praying and looking for a location along US 41 between Interstate 64 (then under construction) and the Evansville airport, we found property at US 41 and Boonville New Harmony Road. Nearly 3 years later, God provided the down payment on the original house and 2 1/3 acres to begin the ministry in 1966, with an option on the surrounding 30 acres, which was not exercised until 1974.
The 13,000 square foot Christian communication center structure was constructed in 1978, with a “training addition” completed in 2004. The facility features an auditorium, and has several special rooms including offices, game room, “The Thirsty Tooth” snack shop, and the “War Room” for prayer and planning.
TTT uses the internet consistently, and every Saturday night is also available via livestream and on demand worldwide.
The vision: Every youth, before turning 20, to hear the Gospel with an invitation to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
The mission: Telling The TRUTH to / through teenagers … to win them to Christ and train them for Christ … teaching them how to share their faith through their local churches, on their campuses, throughout their communities, and into their world, wherever God leads them in their future.
Teenagers have been trained in youth evangelism from all 50 states and multiple nations.
When TTT turned 40, a special Isaiah 40:31 t-shirt was designed: “Walk, run, fly” … with a 727 airplane super-imposed.
TTT’s 50th anniversary celebration featured generations of TTT teenagers from each seven-year span (1966 through 2014) represented, along with current 2015-2016 teenagers attending.
Since the first summer, 1966, teams have taken the Gospel to county fairs and street festivals. Evangelistic teams have traveled across the tri-state – from Terre Haute, Indiana to the Tennessee-Kentucky border; and from Sparta, Illinois to New Albany, Indiana. They have taken the Gospel to multiple counties within a 100-mile radius of TTT (US 41 N at Boonville New Harmony Road).
Teams trained at TTT have put together evangelistic outreaches using high school auditoriums and gymnasiums, local church facilities, city parks, and municipal auditoriums and stadiums to share the Gospel with an open invitation to turn from sins and personally believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
My college classmate Earl Radmacher, editor of the Nelson Study Bible, wrote: “The Lord gives power to those who trust in Him. The strength of people who are nourished by God is compared to the strength of the eagle.”
“Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalm 103:5 NKJV
Several summers, teenagers with adult leaders attended the Youth for Christ International Convention at Winona Lake, Indiana.
Teenagers raised funds to buy used school buses to transport students from Tri-state communities to TTT. Between Christmas and New Year’s, the buses took teenagers and adult leaders on “Tween Tours“ year-by-year to Washington DC, Florida, Texas, Virginia, New Orleans, and the deep south.
Teenagers formed travel teams during the school year using music and drama.
Several TTT teenagers served on Teen Missions International teams in many different nations on nearly every continent.
Many, after graduating from high school, attended Christian colleges and universities and went on to serve in full-time ministry across America and around the world.
The expanded conference room will include “Together Toward Tomorrow” displays, depicting the continuing story of youth evangelism in America. And it will graphically share the story of how God has used individual Christians to put together major breakthroughs to further the Gospel.
Warren Wiersbe in his study Bible writes: ” ‘Renew’ means ‘to exchange,’ as taking off old clothing and putting on new. We exchange our weakness for His power. As we trust God, He enables us to soar during a crisis, to run when the challenges are many, and to walk faithfully in the routine day-by-day demands of life.”
“Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10 NKJV
Wiersbe writes: “Walking in the ordinary pressures of life can be much more difficult than flying like an eagle in a time of crisis.”
