“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 NKJV
Warren Wiersbe said: “If we serve a master, we can expect to receive wages. Sin pays wages—death! God also pays wages—holiness and everlasting life. In the old life, we produced fruit that made us ashamed. In the new life in Christ, we produce fruit that glorifies God and brings joy to our lives.”
Dr. Ernest I. Reveal was one of the most powerful praying Christians it has been my privilege to know. I was with Gospel Advertising in Greenville, South Carolina, and he called saying: “Dooms, get yourself to Evansville for the weekend. One of my “big necktie” preachers canceled on me and I need you.”
Before the first service, Reveal unlocked his leg braces and knelt with me, put his arm on my shoulder, and said, “Dooms, go out there and brag on Jesus.” The pulpit of the Evansville Rescue Mission faced a clock that only the speaker could see, encircled with the phrase: “Preach Christ. Brief, bright, brotherly – 30 minutes.”
God blessed each of the times I spoke that weekend, and people responded to “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Saturday afternoon, Dr. Reveal took us to Camp Reveal, to a planter he called “Old Bethel,” inviting me to sit with him praying together, especially for God to bless that weekend and the forthcoming 40th anniversary of the Evansville Rescue Mission, to be March 8, 1957. He requested postcards to be mailed throughout the area, and large posters with pictures of Dr. and Mrs. Reveal and the Evansville Rescue Mission with a “Jesus Saves” sign.
Someone drove Dr. Reveal to Greenville to pick up the posters and postcards. Asking my Dad and me to come out to the vehicle, Dr. Reveal prayed: “Jesus, help these boys to put the Gospel by the side of the road, even if it’s just one scripture verse that will be seen by thousands.”
God heard and answered. The message “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” continues to be seen by thousands every day.
Praying in 1962 for God to reveal His plan for my life, I knew my major purpose: to communicate Christianity and ultimately build a Christian communication center to reach teach and train youth to “do the work of an evangelist.”
When God opened the door for me to become director of Tri-State Youth for Christ, I drove to the corner of US Highway 41 and Boonville New Harmony Road, seeing the “For Sale” sign.
Going immediately to Camp Reveal, I went to Old Bethel, circled the planter, claiming the property but with no money available, reading Joshua 1:7-9 and praying: “Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
From the Rendezvous February 7, celebrating God’s faithfulness 60 years and counting, believers on the Lord Jesus Christ are being invited to join us as we go “Together Toward Tomorrow.”

Jesus said, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV
Praying for the goal: the right people on the team at the right time, as we keep going together toward tomorrow.
